Artist Resume & Mission Statement
Kristin Van Wynen’s photographic training includes Parson’s School of Design, Silvermine College of Art, Rochester Institute of Technology and the New York Institute of Photography. She is a member of the Sierra Club, Nature Conservancy and the National Audubon Society.
Kristin’s award winning photographs are intended to create a quiet place, a still-point that may help people experience quiet, inner freedom.
God’s beauty is all around if it can only be noticed.
Kristin has lived in eastern NC from 1977 - 2010. She loves and is inspired by the outdoors from the seashore to the mountains. She likes kayaking in the tidal creeks, hiking the mountains & exploring new places. She also enjoys art museums and doing fiber arts, drawing, painting, and beading.
Kristin’s images reflect primarily the southeast from the mountains to the seashore including: the living weather of the mountains, mountain rivers, streams & waterfalls, horses, elk, water birds, butterflies, flowers, gardens, sea – cloud – and landscapes: salt marsh, creeks and beaches.
Her work also includes observations of our naturally abstract surroundings.
Kristin has exhibited work across North Carolina, in Chicago, Illinois; Minneapolis, Minnesota; New York City, Tampa and Orlando, Florida; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; San Diego, CA and Washington DC. She is represented in galleries in eastern & western North Carolina.
